Australia and New Zealand complete the list for the World Cup

With the 16 teams already classified, the seeded teams are known; Argentina and Australia will play in Terrassa

The FIH has announced the automatic qualification of Australia and New Zealand for the FIH Hockey Women's World Cup Spain & Netherlands 2022, due to the impossibility of holding the Oceania Cup due to the health situation caused by COVID-19. In this way, the two oceanic places automatically go to the two best selections by the FIH ranking of the continent.

Thus, with the 16 participating teams classified, the four teams that will be seeded are known and, therefore, the groups will be distributed: in group A the Netherlands will play, in B England, in C —group of Spain— Argentina and in the D Australia. Groups A and B will play at the Amstelveen venue, while teams from C and D will play in Terrassa.

The final composition of the tournament will be known in the draw that will take place on February 17 in Terrassa. The remaining teams will be divided into three pots based on their ranking, to ensure balance between the groups.

Thus, the classified teams are, by ranking: the Netherlands, England, Argentina, Australia, Germany, Spain, Belgium, New Zealand, India, Japan, Korea, Ireland, China, Canada, South Africa and Chile.
